North American Geography

 
 

COURSE OBJECTIVE: 

To develop an understanding of North American human and natural environments, common place names, regional development, and changing conditions.  This will be accomplished through class discussions, hands-on activities, internet research and class readings.  Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of basic geographic relationships and concepts that form the basis of Regional Geography.


GENERAL COURSE OUTLINE

There are several basic elements to the class. These include:          

  1. -Readings from a text

  2. -Lectures about Political, Human, Cultural, and Physical     Geography topics

  3. -Visual presentations including slides and videos

  4. -Exercises related to the text and lecture materials

  5. -Quizzes about readings in the text and lectures

  6. -Internet research

  7. -Map work

  8. -Project due at the end of the semester
